CHANGES TO RHLL REGISTRATION OPTIONS (BASED ON LITTLE LEAGUE AGE RULES)

6 YEAR OLDS WILL HAVE 2 CHOICES OF DIVISIONS TO PLAY IN, T-BALL OR ROOKIES.  PREVIOUSLY, 6 YEAR OLDS COULD ONLY PLAY ROOKIES (MACHINE PITCH) IF THEY HAVE PLAYED LITTLE LEAGUE T-BALL THE YEAR BEFORE.  WE ARE REMOVING THAT REQUIREMENT THE DECISION ON WHICH DIVISION TO PLAY IN IS COMPLETELY UP TO THE PARENT AND CHILD.

8 YEAR OLDS WILL HAVE 2 CHOICES TO PLAY IN, ROOKIES OR AA (KID PITCH).  PREVIOUSLY, 8 YEAR OLDS COULD ONLY PLAY IN ROOKIES.  WE ARE OFFERING THIS OPTION TO ALLOW HIGHER SKILLED PLAYERS AN OPPORTUNITY TO FURTHER DEVELOP THEIR BASEBALL TALENT.  THERE ARE SOME CAREFUL CONSIDERATIONS BEFORE MAKING THIS CHOICE TO PLAY IN AA.  THIS DIVISION WILL CONSIST OF PLAYERS WHO ARE 8-10 YEARS OF AGE SO IT IS IMPORTANT TO DECIDE IF THE PLAYER IS READY TO PLAY WITH KIDS IN THIS AGE GROUP.

THERE ARE ALSO SOME STIPULATIONS THAT WILL BE FOLLOWED FOR A 8 YEAR OLDS TO PLAY IN AA.   FIRST, ALL 8 YEAR OLDS WILL BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND TRYOUTS, NO EXCEPTIONS.  IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THE PLAYER DEMONSTRATE THE ABILITY TO PLAY IN THIS DIVISION TO BOTH EVALUATING MANAGERS AND BOARD MEMBERS.  SAFETY OF ALL PLAYERS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS IN LITTLE LEAGUE AND RHLL RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ANY 8 YEAR OLD PLAYER FROM PLAYING IN AA.

SINCE RHLL DOES NOT OFFER SENIOR SB ANYMORE, WE ARE OFFERING 13 YEAR OLD GIRLS TO PARTICIPATE IN MAJOR SB.  HOWEVER, 13 YEAR OLDS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE LITTLE LEAGUE STATE TOURNEY.

Team Assignments & Structure

Teams are structured using the following guidelines:

RHLL Board appoints all team managers and coaches.

  •  RHLL Board will assign players to teams in non-draft divisions (T-Ball and Rookie Baseball and Rookie Softball.)
  •  Assigned by school as much as possible-some teams may have players from different schools.
  •  Requests to play for a particular manager or with friends will be highly considered, but there will be no promises, as the Board of Directors reserves the right to assign players to teams as necessary.
  •  At no time may a team have more that the maximum number of players as set by the RHLL Board.  Draft Division (AA BB, AAA BB, Major BB & SB, Junior BB, and Intermediate BB);
  •  Players in draft divisions will receive a draft rating at a tryout session.
  •  Managers from each division will draft players to their teams following RHLL Draft guidelines.
